BOOK FRIENDS

“I heard Ms. Hunter telling another teacher that our class almost won the contest,” Chloe said to her friends at lunch the next day. “Even with our donation to Ethan’s family.”

“I think it’s cool that we came in second,” Sofia said.

“Me too,” said Jina. “But now we’re back to not having enough Animal Talkers books in the library.”

Someone sat down at their lunch table. Jina looked up in surprise. It was Ethan!

“Hey,” Ethan said.

They stared at him for a minute. Finally, Jina spoke up. “Hi Ethan. Are you doing okay?”
